Sainte-Foy-la-Grande sits on the south side of the Dordogne river. This Bastide town still has many Medieval and Renaissance houses and a famous big market every Saturday. It's an excellent base to visit Bordeaux, Saint Emilion, Bergerac and the Dordogne Valley.

The apartment was beautifully furnished and had everything we needed for our week long stay, including a washing machine and dryer as well as some thoughtfully provided start-up provisions in the refrigerator. A thoughtfully composed information folder provided lots of information about the town and the area and there was also an extensive collection of local tourism brochures and guidebooks. The apartment is in the historic centre of town, on the second floor of a building on the southern side of the main square. French windows in the front room frame a fabulous view of the square with its collonaded arcades on three sides and the town hall in the centre. On arrival we parked on the square near the apartment building, making it easy to move our luggage. You can park there any day except Saturday, when the huge weekly market transforms this part of town into a hive of activity. Although the town can be a little quiet, the apartment is an excellent base for exploring the region by car from Sarlat to the east to Bordeaux in the west.

We spent two weeks at this wonderful apartment which over looked the market square in the centre of town. The location was ideally situated for many of the local restaurants, cafés and shops. Additionally the town was an excellent base from where we could visit many of the nearby chateaus, vineyards and neighbouring towns and villages. Market day was particularly memorable and we enjoyed buying our fruit and vegetables whilst soaking up the very French atmosphere. The apartment is beautifully decorated and very well equipped throughout. The owners were extremely helpful and provided us with excellent information about the apartment, the town and local places of interest. We would certainly recommend this apartment.

This apartment is great. Light and airy and extremely well presented. The apartment has a fully appointed kitchen and we had a couple of great nights eating in. Their notes on the area are very helpful. St Foy is a great little place to base yourself and explore the area. We had a car and did just that in the 6 days we stayed.

The light floods into Le Grand Appartement through the ceiling to floor windows with a view over the town square and Mairie. It is very well equipped and beautifully decorated so that you can really enjoy living the French life, especially on a Saturday morning when a wonderful market is set up all around you. It is also well placed to explore St Emilion and Bergerac and convenient for catching a train into Bordeaux. We'll certainly try and find an excuse to return!
